KITO H 26.2 N In-line Deflagration Flame Arrester

The KITO H 26.2 N is a unidirectional in-line deflagration flame arrester for vapor/air and gas/air pipelines, primarily used in vent lines to thermal incineration plants. The RV/N-IIA-1000/…-1.2-X08 series operates up to 1.2 bar abs. and 80°C. Suitable for explosion group IIA substances with MESG > 0.9 mm.

Installation Conditions

Install between the process and potential ignition source, ensuring the L/D ratio of the pipeline does not exceed 50 for the H 26.2 N. Nominal pipe diameter must be equal to or less than the DN of the flame arrester.

Typical Applications:

  • VOC vent lines to thermal oxidation
  • venting of flammable vapor storage tanks
  • off-gas from chemical or pharmaceutical processes
  • gas recovery or combustion systems

Variants and Dimensions

Available as KITO RV/N-IIA-1000/…-1.2-X08 and as “-T” version with two PT100 sensors on one side. The PT100 version is used for emergency functions such as flow shut-off or inerting in case of stabilized burning. Maximum stabilized burning time: BT = 1.0 min.

DN Configurations:

  • DN 400 / 16"
  • DN 450 / 18"
  • DN 500 / 20"
  • DN 600 / 24"

For NG 1000: D1 1180 mm, D2 1016 mm, L1 1190 mm, L2 405 mm, H1 420 mm, weight approx. 824–939 kg depending on DN and flange standard.

Materials and Connections

  • Body: carbon steel or stainless steel 1.4301 / 1.4571
  • Gasket: HD 3822 or PTFE
  • Flame arrester element: fully replaceable
  • KITO grid: stainless steel 1.4310 or 1.4571
  • Flanges: EN 1092-1 type A or ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF
  • Condensate drain: blank flanged
  • Optional connections for differential pressure and cleaning lance

Selection Criteria

Selection must consider explosion group, temperature, pressure, flow rate, allowable pressure drop, and possible presence of condensate or particulates. Flow curves are provided for air at 1.29 kg/m³, 273 K, atmospheric pressure.

Certification

Type examination certificate per EN ISO 16852 and CE marking in accordance with ATEX 2014/34/EU.

Description

KITO® RV/N-IIA-1000/…-1.2-X08

KITO® RV/N-IIA-1000/…-1.2-X08-T

  • Intermediate armature, mainly installed as in-line deflagration flame arrester in pipes to thermal incineration plants for vapor/air and air/gas mixtures.
  • Unilaterally working in pipes, whereby an operating pressure of 1.2 bar abs. and an operating temperature of 80 °C must not be exceeded.
  • Approved for all substances of the explosion group IIA with a MESG > 0.9 mm.
  • The maximum length of the pipes from the KITO® flame arrester to the ignition source is limited (L/D tube length/tube diameter).
  • It is only allowed to install the device in pipes with nominal widths ≤ than the nominal width of the armature (DN).
  • The temperature sensors (2 pieces, arranged on one side) serves to trigger an emergency function, e.g. shutting off or inerting the gas flow if a stabilized burning occurs at the KITO® flame arrester.
  • Proof against “stabilized burning” and withstand this up to a max. burn time BT = 1.0 min.
