KITO H 41 N In-Line Deflagration Flame Arrestor

The KITO H 41 N is a bidirectional in-line deflagration flame arrestor with threaded connections, designed for the protection of vessels and pipeline sections handling flammable gases or vapors from flammable liquids. Reference types: KITO RG-Def-IIA-…-1.2 and RG-Def-IIA-…-1.2-T / -TT.

Operating Limits

  • Explosion group: IIA1 to IIA
  • MESG: > 0.9 mm
  • Max. operating pressure: 1.2 bar abs.
  • Max. operating temperature: 60 °C
  • Max. ignition source distance: 50 × pipe internal diameter
  • Installation: horizontal or vertical piping, any orientation
  • Stabilized burning: BT ≤ 30.0 min

Applications

Typical uses include small vent lines, vapor recovery systems, tank breathing lines, process skids, and gas piping where ignition may occur from either direction. Selection of H 41 N is appropriate for IIA group requirements and where extended stabilized burning resistance (BT up to 30 min) is needed compared to standard short-time versions (BT 1 min).

Connections and Sizes

Available with G 1/8" to G 2" threads. For G 1/8", G 1/4", G 3/8": body diameter D 90 mm, length L 130 mm, approx. weight 3.0 kg. For G 1/2" to G 1": length 235 mm or L1 290 mm. For G 1¼" to G 2": body diameter 120 mm, length 140 mm or L1 315 mm, approx. weight 4.8 kg.

Description

KITO® RG-Def-IIA-…-1.2

KITO® RG-Def-IIA-…-1.2-T (-TT)

  • For installation into pipes to the protection of vessels and components against deflagration of flammable liquids and gases.
  • Approved for all substances of explosion groups IIA1 to IIA with a maximum experimental safe gap (MESG) > 0.9 mm.
  • Bi-directionally working in pipes, whereby an operating pressure of 1.2 bar abs. and an operating temperature of 60 °C must not be exceeded.
  • The distance between a potential ignition source and the flame arrester must not exceed 50 times the inner pipe diameter.
  • All sizes are tested against “stabilized burning” and withstand this up to a max. burn time BT ≤ 30.0 min.
  • To detect a “stabilized burning” a thermocouple must be installed at each endangered side.
  • Mounting is acceptable in any position, in horizontal as well as in vertical pipes.
