KITO H 35.1 N In-line Deflagration Flame Arrestor

The KITO H 35.1 N is a bidirectional in-line deflagration flame arrestor designed for installation in piping connected to vessels, process equipment, or network sections handling flammable gases and vapors. This model corresponds to KITO CFA-Def0-IIA-…/…-1.2 and CFA-Def0-IIA-…/…-1.2-T / -TT variants.

Operating Limits

  • Explosion group: IIA1 to IIA, MESG > 0.9 mm
  • Max. operating pressure: 1.2 bar abs.
  • Max. operating temperature: 60 °C
  • Max. distance from ignition source: 50 × internal pipe diameter
  • Mounting: horizontal or vertical piping
  • Short-time burning: tBT = 1.0 min with one or two PT100 sensors

Industrial Applications

Applied in tank venting, vapor recovery lines, vent gas lines, and chemical process systems where ignition may occur from either side of the piping. Selection requires verification of explosion group, pressure, temperature, flow rate, pressure drop, and L/D ratio.

Dimensions and Connections

Range covers NG 150 to NG 800, with connections from DN 50 to DN 400. EN flanges are PN 16 for smaller DN and PN 10 for larger DN. ASME options cover 2" to 16". Connections: EN 1092-1 type B1 or ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF.

Materials and Monitoring

  • Body: carbon steel, optional stainless 1.4571
  • Gasket: HD 3822 or PTFE
  • Flame arrestor element: fully replaceable
  • Casing: galvanized steel up to NG 400 or 1.4571 / 1.4581
  • KITO grid: stainless 1.4310 or 1.4571
  • Bolts/nuts: galvanized steel or A2
  • Sensor: PT100, 3/8" connection, material 1.4571

FAQ

When is PT100 required?
Required when thermal load detection and interlock for flow shutdown or inerting are specified. With one PT100, the sensor is installed on the side where combustion is expected.

Which certification applies?
Type examination certificate per EN ISO 16852 and CE marking in accordance with ATEX 2014/34/EU.

Datasheet and documents

Description

KITO® CFA-Def0-IIA-…/…-1.2

KITO® CFA-Def0-IIA-…/…-1.2-T (-TT)

  • For installation into pipes to the protection of vessels and components against deflagration of flammable liquids and gases.
  • Approved for all substances of explosion groups IIA1 to IIA with a maximum experimental safe gap (MESG) > 0.9 mm.
  • Bi-directionally working in pipes, whereby an operating pressure of 1.2 bar abs. and an operating temperature of 60 °C must not be exceeded.
  • The distance between a potential ignition source and the flame arrester must not exceed 50 times the inner pipe diameter.
  • The installation of the deflagration flame arrester into horizontal and vertical pipes is permissible.
  • When equipped with one or two temperature sensors, the devices are protected under atmospheric conditions against a short time burning by a burning time tBT = 1.0 min.
  • If only one temperature sensor, then it is to be placed on the device side where a burning could be expected.
