Ball Valve - Type 29001 | Ibor Valves

Ibor Type 29001 Ball Valve

The Ibor 29001 is a 2-way ball valve for on/off isolation in industrial liquid and gas piping. Compared with the 29000 series, the 29001 includes a secondary soft seat, providing an additional sealing interface where tighter shutoff is required and the process medium is compatible with soft-seat materials.

Seat Design and Cavity Isolation

  • DIB I: double piston effect on both upstream and downstream seats; used where bidirectional pressure sealing and cavity isolation are required.
  • DIB II: double piston effect downstream and single piston effect upstream; selected where cavity pressure relief philosophy differs from DIB I.
  • Secondary soft seat: additional sealing surface for clean services with low solids content.
  • Overlay options: hardfacing on the seat area or on all wetted parts, depending on erosion, corrosion, or service severity.

Stem, Sealing, and Maintenance Features

  • Stem sealing injector for emergency sealant injection or maintenance support.
  • Thermal stem extension or bonnet extension for insulated lines, cryogenic arrangements, or elevated-temperature services where applicable.
  • Fugitive-emission design available when low external leakage is specified by plant standards.
  • Locking device for isolation control and maintenance safety procedures.
  • Heating jacket for viscous media or fluids with solidification risk.

End Connections and Standards

  • Flanged ends: ASME B16.5, GOST 12815-80, EN 1092-1
  • Socket weld: ASME B16.11
  • Butt weld: ASME B16.25
  • NPT threaded ends: ASME B1.20.1
  • BSPP or BSPT threaded ends: BS 21

Typical Applications and Media

Used in chemical, petrochemical, energy, utility, and process plants for hydrocarbons, process gases, steam, hot water, condensate, fuel lines, and auxiliary systems. Final suitability depends on pressure class, temperature range, trim material, seat compound, corrosion allowance, and cycling frequency.

Actuation Options

  • Manual lever or gearbox for local operation.
  • Pneumatic actuator for ESD, interlock, or remote on/off service.
  • Electric actuator for utility systems and low-cycling automated isolation.
  • Hydraulic actuator where high torque or fail-safe operation is required.

Selection Notes

Select the 29001 instead of the 29000 when the secondary soft seat is required for additional shutoff integrity in clean media. Use a heating jacket for high-viscosity fluids, waxy hydrocarbons, bitumen-like products, or services exposed to cooling and solidification. DIB I or DIB II should be defined according to the plant cavity relief, double isolation, and maintenance depressurization philosophy.

FAQ

  • Is it a control valve? No. It is primarily an isolation valve for open/closed service.
  • Can it be used on steam? Yes, if body, trim, seat, and pressure-temperature rating are compatible with the steam conditions.
  • When is the secondary soft seat not preferred? In dirty, abrasive, or high-temperature service beyond the seat material limit.
