The Cla-Val 580 Series Silent Wafer Check Valve has a spring-loaded poppet that allows the valve to close before flow reversal occurs, resulting in a silent, non-slam closure. It is a truly silent check valve. For ease of installation, the valve can be installed in vertical or horizontal positions with flow up or flow down. The short lay length of the valve allows for a space-saving design. Silent Wafer Check Valves are available in sizes 2” to 10,” with either a 125 lb. or 250 lb. pressure class rating.
Cla-Val 580 – Silent Wafer Check Valve
The Cla-Val Series 580 is a wafer-type check valve featuring a centrally guided, spring-loaded disc. The return spring closes the disc prior to full reverse flow, reducing slam and hydraulic shock in pump discharge lines. No actuator is required.

Installation
Valve may be installed horizontally or vertically. Technical datasheet allows for flow up or down; installation manual specifies horizontal or vertical with upward flow. For vertical downward flow, application suitability must be confirmed prior to selection.
Full face flanges and full face gaskets are required. Flexible couplings are not recommended. Piping must be free of debris, oils, grease, and welding residues before installation.
Applications
Suitable for water distribution, fire pump discharge, vertical turbine pumps, booster pump stations in high-rise buildings, and house pump systems. Selection should consider flow rate, head loss, pressure class, flange diameter, and seat leakage requirements.
Certifications
125/150 Class 4"–10" models are FM Approved. Both 125/150 and 250/300 series (1"–10") comply with US lead content requirements for potable water.
FAQ
Is maintenance required? No scheduled maintenance is required, but periodic inspection is recommended as part of plant maintenance routines.
Can it be repaired in-line? Yes, seat, disc, and spring are field-replaceable.
