Cryogenic Side Entry Floating Ball Valve – Neway

Side-entry floating ball valve for low-temperature service, constructed with stainless steel body. Available with RF (Raised Face) or BW (Butt Weld) end connections. Actuation options include manual, pneumatic, electric, or hydraulic. Product range covers sizes 1/2"–3" and pressure classes ASME 150–1500 / PN16–PN250.

Technical Configuration

  • Type: Floating ball, side entry design
  • End Connections: Raised Face (RF) or Butt Weld (BW)
  • Body Materials: Stainless steel grades CF8, CF8M, CF3, CF3M, F304, F316, F304L, F316L, LC3, LF3 (per specification)
  • Seat Materials: PCTFE, RPTFE, PEEK, VESPEL, or PAI, selected based on temperature, pressure, and process media
  • Stem Sealing: Low-emission graphite packing
  • Design Features: Extended bonnet, anti-static device, fire-safe construction, drop plate, stem guide for alignment

Cryogenic Operation

The extended bonnet relocates the stuffing box outside the cold zone, preventing stem sealing from operating at minimum process temperature. Drop plate limits condensate ingress into insulation. Low-emission packing addresses fugitive emissions at the stem.

Applications

Suitable for LNG, air separation units, cryogenic liquids, emergency shut-off, and low-temperature isolation lines. Referenced in LNG industry applications and tested to standards such as BS6364, SHELL77/200, and GB/T24925.

Valve Selection

Floating design is typically specified for smaller diameters and pressure classes where operating torque remains manageable. For larger sizes, higher torques, or increased differential pressures, trunnion-mounted designs should be considered.

FAQ

When is BW preferred over RF?
BW is selected when a permanent welded connection is required and to minimize flanged leakage points.

What data should be specified?
Process media, minimum temperature, pressure, ASME class, end connection, fire-safe requirement, actuator type, and acceptable seat/stem leakage rates.
