Gefran GFX-VALVOLE Controller

The Gefran GFX-VALVOLE is a microprocessor-based back-panel controller designed for three-way motorized valves (open/close) in process and temperature control loops. It is intended for applications where final control is performed by an actuator, not by SSR or direct power output. Supports operation with or without position feedback potentiometer, and offers PID or PD control algorithms.

Inputs and Position Feedback

Primary input is universal: thermocouples J, K, R, S, T, RTD Pt100/JPT100, mV, 1 V, and 20 mA, with custom linearization. Auxiliary analog input supports potentiometer ≥1 kΩ, 0/2–10 V, or 0/4–20 mA, for valve position feedback or additional process signals. Primary input accuracy: 0.2% f.s. ±1 digit at 25 °C, sampling every 120 ms.

Valve Control

Actuator parameters include stroke time, minimum movement time, dead zone, and movement setpoint threshold. Dual relay module “RR” is used for open/close commands. Controller supports heat/cool PID, on/off, PWM, autotune, self-tuning, soft-start, and power limit 0–100%.

Outputs and Alarms

Outputs: relay 3 A / 250 Vac, logic output 24 Vdc / 35 mA, and analog output 0/2–10 V or 0/4–20 mA. Up to 4 alarms: maximum, minimum, absolute/relative, symmetrical, LBA, and HB types.

Communication and Variants

Available as Master (standalone control and communication) or Slave (zone extension). Standard communication: optically isolated RS485 Modbus RTU; optional CANopen and Profibus DP.

Overview

Rear panel microprocessor instrument for 3-way motorized valves.

The main input for the for the variable to be adjusted is universal, and gives the possibility of connecting various signal types: thermocouples, resistance thermometers, thermistors, linear inputs and potentiometer, all with possibility of custom linearization.

A second isolated auxiliary analog input is available, with fully configurable functions for linear signals or input from potentiometer for valve position.

Specific parameters are present for the valve control, such as actuator stroke time, minimum movement time, movement trip setpoint, dead zone.

You can also select function type, with or without potentiometer, and with PID or PD algorithm.
