Neway V-Notch Segmental – Analog Rotary Control Valve

The Neway Concentric Type V-notch segmental is an angular motion control valve designed for flow regulation in liquids, gases, and fluids containing solids or fibers. The V-notch opening modulates flow as the control element rotates, offering a higher turndown ratio compared to conventional butterfly control valves. Available sizes range from DN20–DN300 / 3/4"–20", with pressure classes of ASME Class 150–600 / PN16–PN100.

Construction and Materials

Valve bodies are available in carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel, and duplex stainless steel. Trim materials include stainless, alloy, and duplex options, selected based on corrosion, erosion, and temperature considerations. Connection types include WF, WJ, RF, RTJ, and FF, with face-to-face dimensions per ISA S75.04 for ANSI Class 150–600.

Flow Characteristics and Leakage

The valve exhibits an equal percentage flow characteristic, with a specified rangeability of 300:1. Seat leakage is classified according to FCI 70-2, available in Class IV, V, or VI with soft seat options. Temperature limits vary by seat type: hard sealing -40°C to 350°C and soft sealing -40°C to 180°C.

Selection Criteria

The V-notch segmental is selected when:

  • Higher flow is needed than a globe valve of the same DN
  • Regulating slurries, pulp, chemicals, or fluids with solids
  • Reduced clogging risk compared to small globe trims
  • Equal-percentage behavior under varying loads
  • Rotary actuator with shorter stroke and lower installation height

Actuation Options

Operation can be pneumatic or electric. Product documentation lists PDL series pneumatic actuator, PCL series cylinder actuator, and electric actuator, with technical brochures mentioning electric AUMA / ROTORK for angle-travel applications.

FAQ

When is it preferred over a globe valve?
For large flows, loaded fluids, or applications where the self-cleaning action of the V-notch reduces buildup risk.

What information is needed for selection?
Medium, flow rate, P1/P2, temperature, Cv/Kv, solids percentage, leakage class, seat type, materials, and fail-safe position.
