KITO B1N – Vent Cap with Flame Arrestor

The KITO® BEH-4-IIA / BEH-5-IIA is a terminal venting device for storage tanks and breathing lines, designed to prevent flame transmission into the tank or pipeline. Suitable for flammable products in explosion group IIA (MESG > 0.9 mm), with a maximum operating temperature of 60 °C.

Typical Applications

• Storage tank venting
• Installation on tank manway covers
• Breathing line terminations
• Atmospheric discharge of stored media vapors

Not intended for use in enclosed, non-ventilated spaces where explosive atmospheres may form.

Sizing and Connection

Selection is based on DN, flange pressure rating, explosion group, media temperature, and required venting flow at available pressure drop. Available sizes: DN 25–40 (PN 40), DN 50–100 (PN 16), depending on BEH-4 or BEH-5 type.

Standard connection: EN 1092-1 type B1 flange. Optional: ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF flange or threaded connection.

Materials and Construction

• Body: Carbon steel or stainless steel 1.4571
• Flame arrestor element: fully replaceable
• Housing/mesh: 1.4308 / 1.4310 or 1.4408 / 1.4571
• Weather cap: 1.4571
• Protective mesh: PA6

No actuator. Passive operation as a terminal venting device. The cap includes a folding mechanism with thermal element.

Standards and Certification

Supplied with type certificate per EN ISO 16852 and ATEX 2014/34/EU marking.

Maintenance

Inspection should focus on deposits, corrosion, mechanical deformation, and free cross-section of the flame arrestor element. For polymerizing or residue-forming vapors, reduce inspection intervals.

FAQ

Does it function as a pressure/vacuum valve?
No. It is a terminal vent cap with flame arrestor.

When to select BEH-5 over BEH-4?
When larger cross-section or sizes up to DN 100 are required.

Is it suitable for all explosion groups?
No. Refer to datasheet: suitable for group IIA only.
