Ball Valve - Type 230 | IVR

IVR Type 230 Ball Valve

The IVR 230 is a 2-way, full-bore ball valve with female BSP threaded ends and an ISO 5211 mounting pad for actuator installation. It is used for isolation duty in hydraulic, HVAC, compressed-air and auxiliary industrial services.

Construction

  • Body material: CW617N brass
  • Connections: BSP female / female threaded ends
  • Design reference: DIN pattern
  • Pressure class: PN 25
  • Seat material: PTFE
  • Flow passage: full bore
  • Automation interface: ISO 5211 top flange for electric or pneumatic actuator

Typical Applications and Suitable Media

  • Closed and open water circuits
  • HVAC distribution lines and plant rooms
  • Technical water and utility services
  • Compressed-air networks
  • General non-corrosive auxiliary lines compatible with brass and PTFE

Valve Selection Logic

Type 230 is selected where manual or automated shut-off is required in small and medium pipe sizes without changing the basic valve arrangement. The ISO 5211 interface allows conversion from lever operation to on/off actuation from a PLC, BMS or local control panel.

Operational Checks Before Installation

  • Operating pressure and temperature against the PN 25 rating and manufacturer limits
  • Chemical compatibility of the fluid with CW617N brass and PTFE seats
  • Required actuator torque, including safety factor for aged seats and pressure differential
  • Opening and closing cycle frequency
  • Accessibility for stem leakage inspection and threaded joint maintenance

Actuator Options

  • Manual lever operation for local isolation
  • Electric actuator for BMS, PLC or remote on/off control
  • Pneumatic actuator for plant air systems and fast cycling applications

Variant and Design Considerations

  • Full-bore design reduces pressure drop compared with reduced-bore valves of the same nominal size.
  • Threaded BSP ends are suitable for maintenance-accessible pipework; welded or flanged valves may be preferred for larger industrial headers.
  • PTFE seats are standard; alternative sealing materials must be verified with the valve supplier for non-standard fluids or temperatures.

Compressed-Air Use

For compressed-air networks, condensate, compressor oil and line contamination shall be considered. These factors can affect long-term seat tightness, stem sealing and operating torque.

FAQ

Can the IVR 230 be automated?
Yes. The ISO 5211 mounting pad permits installation of a suitable electric or pneumatic actuator.

Is it suitable for throttling?
It is primarily an isolation valve. Continuous throttling can accelerate seat wear and is not the normal selection basis.

Which standards are relevant?
BSP threaded connections, DIN-pattern construction reference, PN 25 pressure classification and ISO 5211 actuator interface are the key technical references.
