Valpres 700004 / 700017 Stainless Steel Ball Valve
Two-piece threaded ball valve in ASTM A351 CF8M stainless steel for on/off isolation in small-bore process and utility lines. Selection is based on pressure class, thread standard, temperature, seal compatibility and any required certification package.

- Threaded ends: BSP or NPT
- Temperature range: -20°C to +160°C
- Vacuum service: down to 10-2 torr
- Body and end piece: ASTM A351 CF8M
- Ball: ASTM A479 TP316 or ASTM A351 CF8M
- Stem: ASTM A479 TP316
- Seats: PTFE
- Thrust washer: TFM
- O-ring: FKM / Viton
- Lever: AISI 430
Suitable media and operating context
Used for water, compressed air, neutral gases, auxiliary circuits and compatible chemical liquids. Media compatibility shall be checked against CF8M stainless steel, PTFE, TFM and FKM. Steam or hot condensate service requires verification of pressure-temperature limits and elastomer suitability.
Standards and certifications
- SIL 3 execution available where functional safety documentation is required.
- TÜV execution available for specified applications.
- ATEX and fire-safe execution available on request, subject to project requirements.
Variant selection: 700004 / 700017
The 700004 and 700017 variants cover small-bore threaded executions. The main selection point is the thread form and project certification package. BSP and NPT threads are not interchangeable; the mating pipework standard must be confirmed before procurement.
Actuation and installation
The standard configuration is manual lever operation for quarter-turn isolation. If remote on/off control is required, actuator suitability must be checked against valve torque, stem interface, mounting arrangement, ambient conditions and fail-open or fail-closed philosophy.
Industrial use cases
- Instrument air and utility manifolds
- Small chemical dosing and sampling lines
- Water and neutral gas isolation
- Maintenance isolation on skid-mounted equipment
- Vacuum and low-flow auxiliary services
FAQ
Is it a control valve? No. It is a quarter-turn isolation valve and should not be used for continuous throttling.
What affects leakage performance? Seat condition, torque, media cleanliness, temperature cycling and compatibility of PTFE, TFM and FKM with the process fluid.
When should the certified version be specified? Specify SIL 3, TÜV, ATEX or fire-safe execution when required by the safety function, hazardous area classification or plant specification.
