Valfonta PRV53 – Pressure Relief / Inlet Pressure Retaining Valve

The Valfonta PRV53 is a self-actuated pressure relief valve designed to maintain upstream pressure in liquid, gas, and steam lines. When the inlet pressure exceeds the set point, the piston moves the obturator, opening the valve proportionally to relieve excess pressure. No compressed air or electric actuator is required.

Key Technical Specifications

  • Sizes: DN15–DN25 / ½”–1”
  • Connections: BSP or NPT, flanges EN PN16/25 or ANSI Class 150 RF
  • Body, cover, and internal parts material: Stainless steel AISI 316L / ASTM A351 CF3M
  • Kv: 2.0–3.5 m³/h, with reduced Kv 0.2 / 0.6 / 1 m³/h available on request
  • Elastomers: NBR, EPDM, or FKM/Viton
  • Temperature ranges: NBR -20 to 80°C, EPDM -30 to 125°C, FKM/Viton -10 to 150°C

Pressure Setting

The technical datasheet specifies a maximum inlet pressure of 10 bar with setting ranges of 0.5–3 / 1–6 / 3–10 bar. The product page lists 12 barg and ranges of 0.2–2 / 1–4 / 3–8 barg. Confirmation of version, nameplate, and set point is required for supply or replacement.

Suitable Media

Applicable for Group 1 and Group 2 fluids, including water, compressed air, nitrogen, inert gases, fuel oil, and steam. A degreased version is available for oxygen service.

Installation and Maintenance

Flow direction must follow the body arrow. The valve can be installed in any position, with an upstream filter and control gauges. In bypass applications, a distance of 0.5–1 m to the isolation valve is recommended for stable compensation. Spare parts are mainly limited to gasket sets NBR, EPDM, FKM, and adjustment spring.

Applications

  • Pump bypass
  • Steam networks and heat exchangers
  • Compressed air and nitrogen
  • Sprinkler systems
  • Laboratories, laundries, fuel-oil installations
