Vacuum Relief Valve KITO D12N

The KITO VS/o-… type D12N is a self-actuated vacuum relief valve designed for tank venting applications. It is installed as a terminal device on tank roofs and opens when the vacuum exceeds the setpoint, allowing air ingress. This model is not explosion-proof and is not suitable for use with flammable media.

Applications

Suitable for:

  • Water tanks, non-flammable chemical liquid tanks, and auxiliary process liquid vessels
  • Vessels subject to vacuum risk during emptying or cooling cycles
  • Vent lines where only vacuum protection is required
  • Combined installation with a pressure relief valve on a common nozzle for pressure/vacuum protection

Dimensions and Setpoint Range

Available in DN 50 to DN 400. Flanged connections per EN 1092-1 type A: PN 16 for DN 50–150, PN 10 for DN 200–400. Optional ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF connection. Setpoint range depends on size: approx. 1.8–200 mbar for smaller sizes, 2.5–50 mbar for DN 350–400. For higher setpoints, refer to D12.1N series.

Materials and Sealing

Standard construction: carbon steel body/cover. Optional: stainless steel 1.4571. Seat and spindle: 1.4571. Standard seal: NBR; alternatives: Viton, PTFE, EPDM, or metal-to-metal. For setpoints ≥100 mbar, only PTFE or metal seals are used.

Valve Sizing

Sizing is based on permissible tank vacuum, required air inflow, and gas density. Flow curves are provided for air (ρ = 1.29 kg/m³) with 40% accumulation above setpoint, per DIN 4119.

FAQ

Is an actuator required?
No. Operation is mechanical via weight/differential pressure.

Does it have CE or EC certification?
No. The technical datasheet specifies no EC certificate and no CE marking.

Description

KITO® VS/o-…

  • As end-of-line armatures for venting apertures on tank installations for ventilation and to prevent inadmissible vacuum.
  • Usually mounted on top of a tank, if applicable in conjunction with a pressure relief valve on a common connecting pipe.
  • The valve is not explosion-proof, thus cannot be used for flammable media.
