Tank Sight Glass Noris Type 119
The Noris Type 119 is a circular tank sight glass, PN 6, designed for visual inspection or illumination of the interior of closed vessels such as tanks, boilers, and silos. Installation is performed by welding the base flange directly to the vessel shell.
Operating Conditions
- Operating pressure: up to 6 bar
- Pressure class: PN 6
- Operating temperature: 150 °C or 280 °C, depending on glass and gasket selection
- Nominal sizes: DN 50 to DN 200
- Design standard: DIN 28120
- Certification: EN 10204-2.2 or EN 10204-3.1 (optional)
Materials and Sealing
Base and cover (flange type) are available in RSt 37-2, H II, 1.4541, or 1.4571. Bolting options: 5.6 galvanized, A2-70, or A4-70. Glass: borosilicate per DIN 7080 or soda-lime per DIN 8902. Standard gasket is asbestos-free; alternative materials or O-ring (for vacuum service) available on request.
Typical Applications
- Water, condensate, oil, or mild chemical storage tanks
- Low-pressure boilers and process vessels
- Silos or closed vessels requiring internal visual inspection
- Foam, clarity, color, deposit, or agitation monitoring
Equipment Options
For glass fouling, wiper (Bauform 190/195) or wash system (Bauform 198) can be specified. Double safety window (Bauform 126) is available for enhanced operator protection. Sight glass luminaires and special versions are available per application requirements.
Selection Criteria
Material selection is based on process media, temperature, corrosive components, and certification needs. Stainless steel (1.4541/1.4571) is recommended for corrosive environments. Maintenance includes bolt torque checks, gasket condition, glass clouding/cracks, and leakage at the sealing seat.
FAQ
Is this a level gauge?
Not primarily. It is an inspection sight glass for direct visual observation of vessel interiors.
Is vacuum service supported?
Yes, with appropriate O-ring version.
Is an actuator required?
No. This is a static inspection component without actuation mechanism.
