Noris Type 198 – Glass Gauge Cleaning Sprayer
The Noris Bauform 198 is an internal spray cleaning device for glass gauge surfaces. It is not a standalone sight glass and does not function as a level measurement instrument. The unit is specified for applications where the glass indicator surface is contaminated by foam, condensate, dust, salts, slurry, or product film, and flushing is required without opening the vessel.
Construction and Connection
- Type: Internal spray washer for glass gauge cleaning
- Materials (sprayer and tube): Stainless steel WN 1.4571 / 1.4404
- Spray connection: G 1/4
- Installation: Factory-mounted during gauge assembly
- Spray direction: Internal, directed at the glass surface
Compatible Gauge Types
Type 198 can be integrated with:
- Circular sight glasses per DIN 28120 (e.g., Noris Bauform 120)
- Circular sight glasses per DIN 28121 via Bauform 121-I
- Sight flow indicators (e.g., Noris Bauform 880-I)
Typical Applications
- Mixing tanks with foaming or glass surface coating
- Chemical vessels with media forming films
- Processes with dust, slurries, or suspended solids
- Vessels requiring periodic visual inspection and flushing
- Inspection points where disassembly increases maintenance time
Selection Criteria
Type 198 is specified when standard sight glasses lose visibility during operation. Selection requires verification of wash fluid compatibility with process media, suitability of 1.4571 / 1.4404 materials, spray line pressure, and drainage method for cleaning fluid.
Spray actuation is external, via manual, solenoid, or pneumatic valve on the auxiliary line. Type 198 does not include an actuator.
FAQ
Does it mechanically clean the glass?
No. Cleaning is performed by fluid spray, not by mechanical wiper.
Can it be retrofitted on site?
Technical documentation specifies installation by the manufacturer during gauge assembly.
What is checked during maintenance?
Nozzle, G 1/4 connection, possible blockage, tube sealing, and chemical compatibility of the cleaning fluid.
