ADCA ADCAMat POPS-KD Duplex – Dual Mechanical Condensate Return Unit

The POPS-KD Duplex is a pre-assembled unit featuring two ADCAMat mechanical pumps in parallel configuration, a vented collection tank, and auxiliary equipment mounted on a metal frame. It is used for lifting or transferring hot condensate without an electric pump, utilizing steam or, optionally, compressed air as the driving medium.

Operation

Condensate enters the vented receiver and is directed to the mechanical pumps. When the level activates the mechanism, driving steam enters, displacing the condensate to the return line via check valves.

This setup is applied when return backpressure or elevation head does not allow stable discharge through a simple steam trap.

Duplex vs. Simplex

The Simplex version uses a single mechanical pump. The Duplex is selected when higher condensate flow, operational redundancy, or maintenance capability with minimal downtime is required. Two or more units can be connected in parallel for flows beyond a single pump's capacity.

Stall Condition

In heat exchangers with steam control valves, pressure in the exchanger decreases when thermal load drops. If pressure before the steam trap equals or is less than the backpressure, condensate is not removed, causing stall, risking water hammer, corrosion, noise, and unstable heat transfer.

Installation

The vent line must be free and self-draining to the receiver. Before commissioning, check for leaks, ensure driving medium cleanliness, and provide suitable protection against overpressure, overheating, or vacuum.

FAQ

When is POPS-KD selected?
When flow or availability needs are not adequately met by a single mechanical pump.

Does it require electrical power?
Not for pumping. Displacement is achieved with steam or compressed air.

Description

A POPS-KD (Duplex) packaged unit is comprised by two ADCAMat pumps in parallel, a vented receiver and all auxiliary items, compactly mounted on a metal frame, piped and ready for connection.
