Marine Angle Sediment Basket JIS F7121

Angle-type sediment basket / water strainer for seawater piping in marine applications, manufactured to JIS F 7121-1996. Testing is referenced per JIS F 7200-1996, with a body hydrostatic test pressure of 0.3 MPa. Standard sizes cover DN25 to DN100.

Function in Piping Systems

Installed on seawater suction or supply lines upstream of pumps, heat exchangers, coolers, control valves, or equipment sensitive to sand, rust, organic debris, and solid particulates.

The angle configuration is specified where piping direction changes at the filtration point or where access for basket removal and cleaning is restricted by machinery space constraints.

Construction Materials

Technical specification includes:

• Body: FC200 (cast iron)
• Bonnet: FC200
• Cover push: FCD400 (ductile iron)
• Filter element: SUS304 (stainless steel)
• Gasket: per manufacturer’s arrangement

The SUS304 filter element is critical for solids retention and must be periodically inspected for blockage, corrosion, or mechanical deformation.

Maintenance

Maintenance involves cleaning the internal element and monitoring differential pressure. Increased pressure drop indicates solids accumulation or flow restriction. At each opening, inspect gasket, cover, bolts, and sealing surfaces.
