NORIS Type 887 – Flow Indicator with METAGLAS®

The NORIS 887 is a straight-through, dual-sided flow indicator with flanged connections according to DIN PN16 or PN40. It is used for visual monitoring of liquids and gases in horizontal or vertical pipelines, ensuring flow direction is maintained during installation.

Materials and Viewing Glass

The body is available in cast steel GS-C25 / 1.0619 / GP240GH or stainless steel WN 1.4408. Covers are GS-C25 / S235JRG2 or 1.4408 / 1.4301, depending on the version. Bolts are 5.6 galvanized or A4-70. Sealing is graphite or other material based on fluid and temperature assessment.

What Differentiates Type 887

The primary distinction from the 880 series is the METAGLAS® glass according to DIN 7079. The glass is welded/fused into a metal frame, creating an integrated glass-metal assembly. This construction is used when glass failure must be evaluated more rigorously than with conventional indicators with flat glass plates.

Applications

Suitable for process water, condensate, gases, hot utility networks, and chemical liquids compatible with 1.0619 or 1.4408. The spinner or flap is selected for clear fluids or where simple flow observation is insufficient.

Does it accept an actuator?
No. It is a passive flow indicator. Available options include visual indication, lighting, or thermal support.
