NORIS Model 880-A – Dual-Sided Flow Indicator ANSI
The NORIS 880-A is a straight dual-sided flow indicator with ANSI 150 or 300 lbs flanges. It is used for local visual inspection of liquids and gases in horizontal or vertical pipelines, maintaining flow direction. It is not a flow meter and does not provide an electrical control signal.
Operating Conditions
- Connection: ANSI 150 / 300 lbs flanges
- Operating Pressure: 16 bar for 150 lbs, 40 bar for 300 lbs
- Operating Temperature: 150 °C or 280 °C
- Sizes: 1/2" to 8"
- Installation: horizontal or vertical
- Options: spinner, flap, heating jacket, observation light
Materials and Sealing
The body is available in GG25 / EN-GJL-250, GS-C25 / 1.0619 / GP240GH, or stainless steel 1.4408. The GG25 version is limited to a maximum pressure of 16 bar. Glasses are borosilicate per DIN 7080 or soda-lime per DIN 8902. Standard sealing is graphite, with other materials available upon fluid and temperature assessment.
Application Scope
Suitable for process water, condensate, auxiliary circuits, gases, and chemical liquids compatible with construction materials. The spinner or flap is selected when simple fluid observation is insufficient, e.g., in clear liquids or low visual contrast.
Difference from NORIS 880
The 880-A is the ANSI version of the 880 series. It is chosen when piping specifications require ANSI 150 or 300 lbs flanges, while the 880 pertains to DIN flanged connection PN16/PN25/PN40.
FAQ
Does it accept an actuator?
No. It is a passive flow indicator. Electrical options are limited to observation lighting.
What is specified in the order?
NPS, ANSI class, body material, glass type, pressure, temperature, fluid, sealing, and need for spinner, flap, or heating jacket.
