KITO E 22.1 N – Pressure/Vacuum Valve with IIB3 Flame Arrestor

The KITO VD/KG-PA-IIB3-… is a terminal breather valve designed for tank vent openings. It is installed vertically on fixed-roof tanks and provides both overpressure relief and vacuum protection, incorporating an integrated flame arrestor element. The technical documentation specifies that the unit is tested and certified for atmospheric flame transmission in accordance with relevant standards.

Application

Suitable for Explosion Group IIB3 media with MESG ≥ 0.65 mm and a maximum operating temperature of 60 °C. Commonly used on fixed-roof storage tanks where pressure/vacuum control and emission limitation are required. Typical media include hydrocarbons and chemical vapors compatible with the specified explosion group.

Construction Materials

Upper body standard in cast steel 1.0619, optional in stainless steel 1.4408. Lower body in 1.0619 / carbon steel, optionally 1.4408 / 1.4571. Seat in stainless 1.4571, sealing flange in PTFE. The flame arrestor element is replaceable for maintenance.

Pallet and Sealing Options

Pallet material depends on setpoint:

  • 2 to <3.5 mbar: aluminum pallet
  • ≥3.5 to 60 mbar: stainless steel pallet 1.4571
  • Sealing: FEP & HD3822 up to 14 mbar, PTFE above 14 mbar

Flow Calculation

Flow rates are specified for air at ρ = 1.29 kg/m³ and 273 K. Values are based on a 20% accumulation above setpoint; recalculate for lower permissible overpressure.

Type-tested per EN ISO 16852 and marked according to ATEX 2014/34/EU.
