KITO E 25 N – Pressure/Vacuum Valve with IIB3 Flame Arrestor

The KITO VD/KG-BEH-6-IIB3-… is a terminal breather valve designed for tank venting applications. Installed vertically on fixed-roof storage tanks, it combines overpressure and vacuum relief with integrated atmospheric flame arrestor functionality, certified for endurance against sustained burning.

Application Scope

Primarily used on fixed-roof tanks containing flammable vapors of explosion group IIB3 (MESG ≥ 0.65 mm), with a maximum operating temperature of 60 °C. The valve limits non-permissible overpressure/vacuum and reduces vapor losses or non-compliant emissions during normal operation.

Sizes and Settings

  • DN 50, DN 80, DN 100 (alternatively ASME 2", 3", 4")
  • Flange connection: PN 16 or ASME B16.5
  • Pressure setting: 2–60 mbar
  • Vacuum setting: 2–60 mbar
  • Flow rates based on air (ρ = 1.29 kg/m³) at 273 K
  • Flow data refer to 20% accumulation above setpoint

Materials and Sealing

Upper body: carbon steel or stainless steel 1.4571. Lower body: cast steel 1.0619 or stainless steel 1.4408/1.4571. Seat: stainless steel 1.4571. Gasket: PTFE. Flame arrestor element is replaceable.

Pallet Options

  • 2 to <3.5 mbar: aluminum pallet
  • ≥3.5 to 60 mbar: stainless steel pallet 1.4571
  • Sealing: FEP & HD3822 up to 14 mbar, PTFE above 14 mbar

Options and Maintenance

Weather hood can be folded via mechanical and thermal release. Optional stainless steel hood 1.4571 and ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF flange available. Maintenance focuses on flame arrestor cleanliness, pallet and seal inspection, and condensate drainage with certified arrangement.

Description

KITO® VD/KG-BEH-6-IIB3-…

  • As end-of-line armature for venting apertures on tank installations, deflagration and endurance burning proof.
  • Tested and approved against atmospheric deflagrations for all materials of the explosion group IIB3 with a maximum experimental safe gap (MESG) ≥ 0.65 mm and an maximum operating temperature of 60 °C.
  • Used mainly as venting and breather device for fixed roof tanks.
  • Used to prevent inadmissible pressure and vacuum and to minimize unwelcome gas losses or inadmissible emissions respectively.
  • The housing is mounted perpendicularly on a tank roof.
  • Available with an explosion and endurance burning proofed condensate drain device.
