Miyawaki REA20 Direct-Acting Pressure Reducing Valve

The Miyawaki REA20 is a self-acting pressure reducing valve suitable for liquids and gases, although it is listed under the steam category. The manufacturer's technical description indicates its use in compressible media such as air and technical gases, as well as incompressible media like water, oil, and similar liquids. It does not require external energy or a pulse line.

Technical Specifications

  • DN15–DN200.
  • Flanged connection DIN.
  • Body: ductile cast iron EN-GJS-400-15 / GGG-40.
  • Body classes: PN16 and PN25.
  • PMO: 1.5 MPa for PN16, 2.2 MPa for PN25.
  • TMO: 350°C.
  • Downstream pressure range: 0.05–1.6 MPa.
  • Ranges below 0.05 MPa or above 1.6 MPa: subject to technical review.
  • Minimum differential pressure: 0.05 MPa.
  • Maximum pressure reduction ratio: 25:1.

Operation

The downstream pressure is detected in the internal control chamber and directly adjusts the valve opening. The design is piston-operated with O-ring sealing, without a diaphragm and without an external feedback line. The conical disc rotates freely at 360°, reducing localized wear on the seat.

Applications

Suitable for compressed air lines, technical gases, water, oil, lube-oil lines, pre-heater units, natural gas, LNG, or gasoline tank systems, provided material and sealing compatibility with the medium is confirmed.

Selection and Installation

Selection should be based on p1, p2, flow rate, medium, temperature, DN, Kvs, and allowable reduction ratio. Options for additional gauges, special connections, and soft sealing for leakage class VI are available. For reduction ratios above 25:1, a two-stage pressure reduction should be considered.

Description

Features

Self-acting pressure reducing valves for liquids and gases

The model REA20 is a direct acting pressure reducinfgvalve designed for compressible media, such as air and various gasses and for incompressible media such as water, oil and others. The valve is self acting and does not require external energy.

Superb durability

Highly durable and carefully selected components, a 360° free rotating, conical plug and the lack of a sensitive diaphragm ensure outstanding lifetime of this valve.

Diaphram free design

The valve operates with an O-ring sealing and a piston design. Due to this design, no daiphragm and no external sensing line is required.

Wide range of pressure reduction

Due to careffully selected springs an outstanding reduction ratio of 25:1 is achieved.

Operating features of direct acting pressure reducing valves

Pressure changes on the downstream side are detected in the detection chamber, and the degree of opening of the valve is directly adjusted to keep the pressure on the downstream side at set pressure.

Options available

- additional pressure gauges

- tailored connections for special applications

- softsealing for leakage class VI

Typical applications

Ideally installed in any fluid system or technical gases, such as lube oil lines, pre-heater units, natural gas lines, pressurized air lines, LNG or gasoline tank systems. Fits perfectly for other technical gases such as Atzetylene, Ammonia, Carbondioxide.
