The Cla-Val Model 90-05 Pressure Reducing Valve is a full port valve that automatically reduces a higher inlet pressure to a steady lower downstream pressure, regardless of changing flow rate and/or varying inlet pressure. This valve is an accurate, pilot-operated regulator capable of holding downstream pressure to a pre-determined limit. When downstream pressure exceeds the pressure setting of the control pilot, the main valve and pilot valve close drip-tight. A CDC/CSC check valve is included to allow return flow when outlet pressure is greater than the inlet pressure. The 690-05 is the reduced port version of the 90-05.
Hydraulic Pressure Control Valves - 90-05 & 690-05 Pressure Reducing Valve with Return Flow | Cla-Val
Cla-Val 90-05 / 690-05
Hydraulic pressure reducing valve with integrated reverse flow capability. Maintains stable downstream pressure and allows reverse flow when outlet pressure exceeds inlet pressure. Suitable for water and compatible fluids in municipal, industrial, and process systems.
Operation
Main valve is a pilot-operated regulator. The reducing pilot modulates based on downstream setpoint. When outlet pressure exceeds setpoint, both main valve and pilot close tightly. Integrated CDC/CSC check valve enables controlled return flow from outlet to inlet. No external power required; actuation is hydraulic via pilot circuit.
Applications
- Water supply zones with potential reverse flow
- Networks with upper/lower pressure zones
- Downstream pipeline protection
- Industrial water circuits
- Installations requiring pressure equalization in reverse direction
Variants
- 90-05: Full port design for standard flow rates.
- 690-05: Reduced port for lower flows or oversized pipelines.
Selection Criteria
Consider normal and reverse flow rates, upstream/downstream pressures, setpoint, cavitation risk, trim materials, and need for downstream relief valve at high ΔP. Verify compatibility with process media and required pressure class.
FAQ
How does it differ from 90-01?
90-01 reduces pressure only in the main flow direction. 90-05 allows reverse flow with pressure control.
Is electrical power required?
No. Regulation is hydraulic via the pilot circuit.
