Cla-Val 90-01KO / 690-01KO

Hydraulic anti-cavitation pressure reducing valve. Designed to reduce high upstream pressure to a stable, lower downstream pressure. KO anti-cavitation trim minimizes cavitation, noise, and internal component wear in high ΔP applications.

Operation

Pilot-operated, modulating control. The reducing pilot regulates downstream pressure; KO trim dissipates energy when ΔP is significant. For high energy dissipation, downstream relief valves are recommended to manage transient pressure spikes and protect downstream assets.

Applications

  • Water distribution zones with high pressure reduction ratios
  • Pumping mains with elevated upstream pressure
  • Downstream equipment protection
  • Industrial water networks
  • Pressure stabilization under variable flow conditions

Variants

  • 90-01KO: Full port configuration.
  • 690-01KO: Reduced port for lower flows or oversized pipelines.

Selection Criteria

Selection based on peak and minimum flow, upstream/downstream pressure, cavitation risk, noise, flow velocity, and trim/elastomer materials. KO trim application should be validated using a cavitation guide. Media compatibility and pressure class per project specification.

FAQ

When to select over 90-01?
For high ΔP where cavitation or seat erosion is expected.

Is electrical power required?
No. Regulation is hydraulic via pilot control.

Description

The Cla-Val Model 90-01KO Hytrol Pressure Reducing Valve with Anti-Cavitation Trim automatically reduces a higher inlet pressure to a steady lower downstream pressure, regardless of changing flow rate and/or varying inlet pressure. The valve is equipped with Anti-Cavitation Trim to provide for optimum downstream pressure control while reducing noise and eliminating the damage associated with cavitation.
