Cla-Val 590-01 / 6590-01

Hydraulic pressure reducing valve for water distribution networks. Maintains a constant downstream pressure regardless of upstream pressure or flow fluctuations, within sizing limits.

Operation

Main valve is pilot-operated and modulating. The pressure reducing pilot regulates the valve chamber, adjusting the opening to keep downstream pressure at the setpoint.

Variants

• 590-01: Full port design for higher flow capacity.

Selection Criteria

Selection is based on peak and minimum flow, upstream pressure, required downstream pressure, allowable pressure drop, flow velocity, and cavitation risk. For high pressure reduction ratios, staged pressure control or anti-cavitation trim may be required.

No. The 590-01 / 6590-01 controls downstream pressure. Sustaining valves control upstream pressure.

Is electrical power required?
No. Operation is fully hydraulic via the pilot circuit.
