Hydraulic surge anticipation and pressure relief valve for pump stations and pressurized pipelines. Designed to protect pumps, piping, and associated equipment from transient overpressure events caused by rapid changes in flow velocity (hydraulic surge/water hammer).
The valve opens in a controlled manner when surge conditions are detected, allowing flow discharge before overpressure is transmitted to the pipeline. Operation is synchronized with pump start-up and shutdown sequences to mitigate transient pressure spikes.
Selection requires pump flow rate, pipeline length and profile, static pressure, shutdown time, relief set pressure, and allowable overpressure. Surge analysis is recommended for critical installations.
