Genebre 2226N Needle Valve – 6000 psi with Vent Port, NPT
The Genebre 2226N is a manually operated needle valve featuring a side vent port for instrument lines and small process volumes. Main ends are NPT per ASME B1.20.1, while the vent port is M8 threaded. The body is ASTM A479-04 Grade 316, with a maximum working pressure of 6000 psi at 38°C.
Technical Specifications
- Sizes: 1/4” and 1/2”
- Line Connection: NPT female/female
- Vent Port: M8
- Operating Temperature: -54°C to +232°C
- Stem Shaft: Stainless 316 with nitridation
- Stem Packing: PTFE
- O-ring: FKM / Viton
- Kv: 0.41 m³/h for 1/4” and 0.45 m³/h for 1/2”
Vent Port Functionality
The vent port is used for controlled depressurization or drainage of the downstream volume after isolation. It is useful in pressure gauges, transmitters, test points, and instrumentation loops where depressurization is required before calibration or instrument removal.
It should not be confused with a full block-and-bleed manifold. The 2226N is a single needle valve with a vent port, not a multi-valve isolation system with independent block and bleed functions.
Applications
- High-pressure instrument lines
- Hydraulic test benches
- Small volume venting or depressurization points
- Clean gases, nitrogen, air, water
- Clean fluids compatible with 316, PTFE, and FKM
Not the primary choice for slurries, suspended solids, or high viscosity fluids. The needle seat has a limited cross-section and may experience blockage or seat leakage in contaminated media.
Selection Considerations
The 6000 psi pressure rating should not be assumed constant across the temperature range; pressure-temperature curve verification is required. The technical sheet indicates a reduction in allowable rating as temperature increases.
FAQ
What is the difference from the 2226?
The 2226N is the version with NPT threads. Selection between 2226 and 2226N depends on the piping standard and thread sealing method.
What is checked before supply?
NPT size, pressure, temperature, Kv, vent discharge direction, material compatibility, and packing/seat sealing requirements.

Certificates
GENEBRE, S.A. has implemented a quality management system to control the designing and manufacturing of fluid control valves, as well as the distribution of home and public taps.
This system complies with the requirements of the current international UNE-EN-ISO 9001:2015, certified by the prestigious German certification organization TÜV Rheinland.
In 2000, GENEBRE began to comply with the European Business Excellence Model, more commonly known as the EFQM. As a result, in 2003, the Catalan Regional Government awarded us with the Quality Award. This new system enables us to ensure the quality of GENEBRE's products and also to offer added value to our clients.
In 2012, we obtained the certification for the Environmental Management System. This system is certified according to the UNE-EN-ISO 14001:2015, also by TÜV Rheinland. GENEBRE QUALITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
