Cla-Val 343GF Hose End Pressure Regulator

The Cla-Val 343GF is a hose-end pressure control valve (HEPCV) designed for aircraft pressure refueling systems. It is installed at the end of the delivery hose or pantograph, upstream of Cla-Val 341GF or 347GF nozzles, to limit downstream pressure at the aircraft refueling adapter. This configuration ensures pressure control at the closest point to the aircraft, independent of upstream fluctuations or line losses.

Operating Principle

The 343GF is a direct-acting, spring-loaded pressure regulator. It does not require an external pilot circuit. Pressure adjustment is achieved mechanically via the internal piston/spring assembly, maintaining downstream set pressure during flow variations or transient pressure surges.

Standard pressure settings:

  • 35 psig
  • 45 psig
  • 50 psig
  • 55 psig
  • Custom settings available on request

Construction and Connections

Body: anodized aluminum. Internal piston: single-piece stainless steel for reduced wear during repeated refueling cycles. Inlet and outlet: flanged, compatible with pantograph, D-1 swivel joint, additional HEPCV, or direct nozzle connection. Sealing options available for Jet A-1 and other aviation fuels. Typical temperature range: -20°C to +70°C. Media compatibility: aviation fuels per ASTM D1655.

Applications

  • Airport hydrant dispensers
  • Refuellers and carts
  • Pantograph fueling systems
  • Jet A-1 pressure refueling
  • Locations requiring hose-end pressure limitation near the aircraft adapter

343GF vs 348GF Selection

Selection between 343GF and 348GF depends on nozzle configuration, flange interface, available hose-end assembly height, and compatibility with 341GF or 347GF nozzle variants. Refer to technical documentation for dimensional and interface details.

FAQ

When is a HEPCV required at the hose end?
When pressure control is needed at the point closest to the aircraft, regardless of upstream pressure variations or line losses.

Is defueling supported?
Yes, the series is defueling-capable with a lockout device. Consult documentation for operational procedures and safety considerations.

Description

The Cla-Val Model 343GF/348GF Hose End Pressure Control Valve (HEPCV) is a direct-acting pressure regulator. t is designed for use in aircraft refueling to protect the receiving aircraft from excess pressure and damage due to pressure surges. It is bolted to a Cla-Val Model 341GF or 347GF Aircraft Refueling Nozzle at the end of a delivery hose or a Pantograph used to refuel jet aircraft under pressure.
