Cla-Val 349GF Strainer Ball Valve

The Cla-Val 349GF is a full-port ball valve with integrated strainer, designed for hose-end assemblies in ground fueling and aircraft refueling operations. It threads directly onto the inlet of Cla-Val 341GF and 347GF nozzles, as well as compatible nozzles from other manufacturers, enabling in-line strainer inspection without nozzle disassembly.

Three-Position Operation

This is a quarter-turn, full-port valve with the strainer element housed within the ball.

  • Flow Position: Fuel passes through the full-port ball and internal strainer.
  • Inspection Position: Valve is closed; strainer can be visually inspected if a glass inspection cover is installed.
  • Defuel Position: Ball and strainer are reversed for fuel recovery or defueling. Safety lock prevents unintentional transition to defuel mode.

Strainer Mesh and Connection Options

Available mesh sizes:

  • 40 mesh
  • 60 mesh
  • 100 mesh

Mesh selection is based on downstream equipment protection requirements, allowable pressure drop, and fuel quality control procedures at the refueller or hydrant dispenser.

Available inlet connections:

  • 2”, 2.5”, or 3”
  • NPT or BSPP threads
  • swivel or flanged outlet
  • military MS flange outlet for D-1, D-2, and D-3 swivel inlets

Construction and Maintenance

Standard configuration includes bump ring and solid aluminum side port cover. Optional glass inspection cover allows visual contamination checks. The side port enables cover removal and strainer cleaning with minimal exposure to uncontained fuel.

The 349GF is suitable for hydrostatic hose testing in the closed position, supporting periodic hose-end assembly isolation during refueling hose inspections.

FAQ

Where is the 349GF installed?
At the inlet of the fueling nozzle, upstream of the 341GF or 347GF nozzle.

When is a glass cover specified?
When visual inspection of the strainer is required prior to cleaning or disassembly.

Description

The Cla-Val Model 349GF Strainer Ball Valve bolts to the inlet of any Cla-Val Nozzle (and some nozzles from other manufacturers) and allows for quick and easy strainer checks.
