Hafner 16 mm Air Manifolds for 5/2 and 5/3 Valves

Hafner 16 mm manifold bases are designed for group mounting of 5-port valves, specifically MD 5/2 and MD 5/3 series, within pneumatic control panels. The common base consolidates supply at port 1 and exhausts at ports 3 and 5, reducing independent tubing runs and minimizing potential leakage points.

RD 5 Series Variants

  • RD 5__403: Compatible with MD 510 403 / 463, MD 520 403 / 463, and MD 53_ 403 / 463. Ports 2 and 4 are routed via the base or the respective valve, depending on the version. Orifice size: 10 mm. Available in 2 to 16 stations.
  • RD 5__464: Features push-in fittings Ø6 mm at ports 2 and 4. Suitable for MD 510 404, MD 520 404, and MD 53_ 404. Orifice size: 6 mm. Available in 2 to 16 stations.

Dimensioning Note

Due to compact construction, when multiple switching valves operate simultaneously, Hafner recommends not exceeding 6 stations per manifold. This should be verified in circuits with several cylinders actuated within the same cycle time.

Selection Criteria

Selection is based on:

  • Number of 5/2 or 5/3 valves required
  • Single or double solenoid operation
  • Connection type: G 1/8” or push-in Ø6
  • Simultaneous air consumption
  • Requirement for blanking plates (BP 5 403 or BP 5 404)
  • Access to exhaust ports and silencers

Applications and Maintenance

Used in packaging machinery, assembly lines, grippers, pushers, and panels with multiple double-acting cylinders. Maintenance includes inspection of seals, valve tightening, leak checks on common lines 1/3/5, and monitoring pressure drop during simultaneous actuation.
