Liquid Flow Switchs

Flow switches are used to monitor the presence or loss of flow in hydraulic, HVAC, water circulation, and industrial liquid service lines. They are installed in heating, cooling, potable and service water networks, auxiliary machine circuits, and process loops where pump, burner, chiller, or control system operation must be interlocked with actual fluid movement. This category includes Genebre flow switches, types 2848 and 2850.

Operation is based on a stainless steel paddle positioned in the flow stream. When liquid velocity exceeds the actuation threshold, the paddle deflects and transfers status to an electrical contact. Selection should be based on pipe size, minimum switching flow, mounting position, pressure drop, operating temperature, working pressure, enclosure protection rating, and control circuit requirements. In pump or heat exchanger protection duty, installation should also consider straight pipe lengths upstream and downstream, avoidance of turbulence, fluid cleanliness, and correct flow direction.

Available versions are supplied with 1" ISO 7/1 threaded connection in accordance with EN 10226-1, a brass process connection, and stainless steel paddles in different lengths for pipe sizes from 1" to 8". Maximum working pressure is 10 bar, maximum operating temperature is 110 °C, and the electrical contact rating is 250 V / 10 A. Type 2848 is fitted with an aluminium alloy enclosure rated IP64, while type 2850 uses a painted steel enclosure rated IP54.
