Fival RAF NX / NY – Reflex Level Gauge
The Fival RAF NX/NY is an optical level gauge utilizing Reflex ribbed borosilicate glass for direct local indication of liquid level in boilers, pressure vessels, and auxiliary process lines. Indication is based on the differing optical properties of gas and liquid phases on the Reflex glass surface.
Construction
Design configuration is Fig. AC, PN100, with standard supply flanges PN40 DN20. Standard glass is Reflex borosilicate, type B, 34 mm width.
Main components:
- level body: carbon steel
- covers: carbon steel
- bolts B7 and nuts 2H
- upper gasket: asbestos-free
- lower gasket: graphite
- nipples: carbon or stainless steel
- optional covers and bolts in stainless steel
NX vs NY Variants
- NX: connection to cocks via plain tubes and compression fittings.
- NY: connection via threaded nipples.
Selection depends on existing cock arrangement, disassembly requirements, and alignment tolerance of the gauge column.
Selection Data
Technical specification should include:
- center-to-center distance
- connection type and size
- handwheel position (left/right)
- operating pressure and temperature
- process medium
- special material requirements
Manufacturer’s table covers sizes Mis. 11 to Mis. 79, with different lengths for NX and NY.
Applications
Used in steam boilers, condensate tanks, feedwater vessels, thermal circuits, and tanks requiring independent local level indication. For corrosive, fouling, or scaling media, verify compatibility of glass, gaskets, and metallic parts.
Maintenance
Periodic inspection should address gasket leakage, glass wear, optical surface cleanliness, bolt condition, and operation of isolation and drain cocks.
