WEY VN Knife Gate Valve – Semi-Lug Design
The WEY VN series is a bidirectional semi-lug isolation valve for liquids, sludge, slurry, fibrous media and viscous products. The gate is mechanically guided throughout its travel and supported in the closed position. The body geometry directs accumulated material away from the guides and back into the flow passage.
Technical Data
-
Nominal sizes: DN50–DN1400
-
Operating pressure: up to 10 bar, depending on DN and actuator
-
Typical limits: DN50–DN200 up to 10 bar, DN250–DN300 up to 6 bar, DN350–DN400 up to 4 bar
-
Flange connections: PN10, PN16, BS10-D/E or AS2129-D/E
-
Face-to-face dimension: EN 558 / ISO 5752, Series 20
-
Leakage test: EN 12266-1, Leakage Rate A
-
Body materials: EN-GJL-250 or stainless steel 1.4408
-
Gate materials: stainless steel 1.4301 or hard chrome-plated 1.4404
-
Standard seat seal: NBR
The transverse seal limits leakage to atmosphere and can be readjusted through lateral compression screws while the valve remains installed. For media containing long fibres, the Weyotine cutting arrangement can be specified to reduce obstruction during closing.
Actuator Options
-
VNA: handwheel or bevel gearbox
-
VNB: quick-action lever, up to 1 bar
-
VNC: pneumatic or hydraulic cylinder, typically 6–8 bar air supply
-
VNE: electric actuator
Applications
Wastewater, sludge, biogas, pulp, mining slurry, chemical effluent, bitumen, seawater and food-process lines containing suspended solids.
FAQ
Is the VN suitable for flow control?
The standard version is intended for on/off isolation. The VNC-R variant uses a 60° V-Port gate and pneumatic positioner for modulating service, subject to differential-pressure limits.
Can it be installed as an end-of-line valve?
Yes, with a reinforced elastomer seal and verification of the allowable pressure for the selected nominal size.
