WEY VM Knife Gate Valve – Full-Lug Design
The WEY VM series is a bidirectional full-lug isolation valve for liquids, sludge, slurry, powders and media containing suspended solids. The gate is guided over its full stroke and mechanically supported in the closed position. Flushing corners direct deposits away from the gate guides and back into the flow passage.
Technical Data
- Nominal sizes: DN50–DN600 / 2″–24″
- Shut-off pressure: up to 150 psi / approximately 10 bar
- Flange drilling: ASME/ANSI Class 150
- Face-to-face dimension: MSS-SP81 / TAPPI
- Body design: full lug, suitable for dead-end service
- Body: EN-GJS-400-15 ductile iron
- Gate: 304 stainless steel; optional 316L
- Standard seat: NBR/BUNA-N
- Optional seals: EPDM, FKM or PTFE
- Stem or piston rod: chrome stainless steel 430F
The mechanically retained round-cord seat provides shut-off along the gate edge. The transverse sealing arrangement controls leakage to atmosphere and can be repacked through lateral screws while the valve remains installed and pressurised. Packing screws must be adjusted uniformly to avoid excessive friction or restricted gate movement.
Actuator Options
- Handwheel: 2″–16″
- Bevel gearbox: 6″–24″
- Pneumatic cylinder: 2″–24″
- Optional cylinder sizing according to differential pressure and operating time
Applications
Wastewater and sludge, pulp stock, biogas substrates, chemical effluent, bitumen, mining slurry, tailings, cement, lime powder, ash and granular solids.
FAQ
Can the VM be installed at the end of a pipeline?
Yes. The full-lug construction is suitable for dead-end service within the specified shut-off pressure.
Is it suitable for safety functions?
The VM series is SIL 3 capable for open-to-close, low-demand safety functions. Final suitability depends on the complete actuator and control-loop assessment.
