WEY VK Knife Gate Valve – Square and Rectangular Ports
The WEY VK series is a bidirectional isolation valve for square or rectangular ducts, silo outlets and hopper connections. The gate is mechanically guided throughout its travel, while body recesses allow displaced solids to move away from the sealing area during closing. In the closed position, the gate is additionally supported against differential pressure.
Technical Data
-
Port dimensions: 200–1000 mm
-
Operating pressure: up to 2.5 bar
-
Connections: project-specific square or rectangular flanges
-
Face-to-face dimension: manufacturer-specific
-
Leakage test: EN 12266-1, Leakage Rate A
-
Body materials: EN-GJL-250 or stainless steel 1.4404
-
Gate materials: stainless steel 1.4301 or hard chrome-plated 1.4404
-
Standard seat seal: NBR
-
Stem or piston rod: stainless steel 1.4104
The preferred pressure direction should be observed when operating near the maximum allowable differential pressure. In vertical discharge applications, the inclined gate edge is positioned toward the outlet side to assist cutting through compacted material.
Actuator Options
-
VKA: handwheel with non-rising stem, 200–600 mm
-
Bevel gearbox
-
VKC: double-acting pneumatic cylinder, 6–8 bar
-
Hydraulic cylinder
-
VKE: electric actuator with rising stem, 200–1000 mm
Applications
Silo discharge, municipal waste, wood chips, coal dust, lime, cement and industrial powders or granular materials.
FAQ
How does the VK differ from round-port knife gate valves?
The VK is engineered for square or rectangular openings and is sized according to port dimensions, differential pressure and solids loading.
How is external leakage corrected?
The transverse seal is readjusted uniformly through the lateral compression screws. Uneven or excessive tightening may increase friction and restrict gate movement.
