WEY VG Knife Gate Valve – Biogas Applications
The WEY VG series is a bidirectional isolation valve developed for agricultural biogas plants. Its flange pattern is adapted to digester and substrate-handling equipment where standard industrial flange dimensions may not match the installed connections.
Technical Data
-
Nominal sizes: DN150 and DN200
-
Operating pressure: up to 4 bar for DN150 and 2.5 bar for DN200
-
Lever-operated version: up to 1 bar
-
Face-to-face dimension: EN 558 / ISO 5752, Series 20
-
Leakage test: EN 12266-1, Leakage Rate A
-
Body material: EN-GJL-250 grey cast iron
-
Gate material: stainless steel 1.4301
-
Seat seal: EPDM
-
Stem material: stainless steel 1.4104
-
Corrosion protection: electrostatic powder coating
The gate is mechanically guided throughout its travel and supported in the closed position. The body geometry directs accumulated substrate back into the flow passage during opening. The transverse seal can be readjusted through lateral compression screws while the valve remains installed.
Actuator Options
-
VGA: handwheel
-
VGB: quick-action lever
-
VGC: pneumatic cylinder, 6–8 bar air supply
Actuator selection depends on nominal size, differential pressure, operating frequency and substrate consistency.
Applications
Manure, fermented sludge, organic substrates and viscous mixtures containing fibres or suspended solids in digesters, feed lines and biogas processing systems.
FAQ
Why does the pressure rating differ by nominal size?
The DN150 version is rated up to 4 bar, while DN200 is limited to 2.5 bar. The actuator type may further limit the permissible differential pressure.
Is the VG suitable for throttling?
No. The standard configuration is intended for full open or full closed isolation.
