WEY HSI Knife Gate Valve – High-Speed Isolation
The WEY HSI series is designed for explosion isolation in pipelines carrying combustible dust or gas-air mixtures. After receiving a signal from the explosion detection system, the pneumatic mechanism releases air from the integrated reservoir and closes the gate before the pressure or flame front reaches the protected section.

Closing time depends on nominal diameter, reservoir pressure and actuator configuration. Installation distance must be calculated together with the response time of the detection and control system.
Actuation and Variants
-
High-speed pneumatic cylinder
-
Integrated compressed-air reservoir
-
24 VDC solenoid activation
-
Optional pneumatic booster
-
HSI-H hygienic version with PTFE lining and DIN 11864-2 connections
Applications
Pneumatic conveying lines for combustible dust, flour, starch, pharmaceutical powders and chemical products. The valve is used as part of an engineered explosion-protection system and is not intended for normal process isolation or throttling.
FAQ
What is required after an explosion event?
The system must be depressurised, and the valve must be removed, inspected and function-tested. Sealing components are replaced according to the manufacturer’s maintenance procedure.
Which standards apply?
Configurations are available according to PED 2014/68/EU, EN 14460 and applicable ATEX requirements.
