Pressure/Vacuum Relief Valve with Flame Arrestor KITO F80N

The KITO VD/KGV-PA-IIB3, F80N series, is a line end valve designed for tank venting applications. It is installed on fixed roof tanks to control both overpressure and vacuum conditions, integrating a flame arrestor element for protection against atmospheric deflagration. Certified for explosion group IIB3 (MESG ≥ 0.65 mm), the valve is rated for a maximum operating temperature of 60 °C.

Tank Operation

Mounted vertically on the tank roof, the valve allows product vapors to be discharged via a side flange to a collection header or atmosphere under overpressure. The connected pressure line must be separately protected. Under vacuum, the assembly permits air or inert gas intake to the tank.

Sizes and Settings

  • DN 50–150: PN 16
  • DN 200–300: PN 10
  • ASME equivalents: 2" to 12"
  • Pressure setting: 2–60 mbar
  • Vacuum setting: 2–60 mbar
  • Flow rates for air ρ=1.29 kg/m³ at 273 K
  • Nominal flow at 20% accumulation above setpoint

Materials and Sealing

Standard construction: upper body 1.0619, lower body 1.0619/steel, seat 1.4571, PTFE gasket. Optional materials: stainless steel 1.4408, 1.4571, cover 1.4301. The flame arrestor element is replaceable. Pallet sealing: FEP/HD3822 up to 14 mbar, PTFE above 14 mbar.

Standards and Certifications

  • EN 1092-1 type B1
  • Optional: ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF
  • Type examination certificate per EN ISO 16852
  • CE marking per ATEX 2014/34/EU

Typical Applications

  • Solvent, fuel, and volatile liquid storage tanks
  • Vent lines requiring flame arrestor protection
  • Product vapor collection for safe disposal
  • Tank protection during filling, emptying, or thermal variation

FAQ

When is the F80N selected over a standard pressure/vacuum valve?
When the tank contains a flammable vapor phase and certified flame transmission protection is required.

Can it be used above 60 °C?
The technical datasheet specifies 60 °C as the maximum certified operating temperature for IIB3 applications.

Description

KITO® VD/KGV-PA-IIB3-…

-End of line device for use in pipeline-

Application as end-of-line armature, for venting apertures on tank installations. Tested and approved against atmospheric deflagrations for all

materials of the explosion group IIB3 with a maximum experimental safe gap (MESG) ≥ 0.65 mm and an maximum operating temperature

of 60 °C. Used mainly as venting and breather device for fixed roof tanks. Used to prevent inadmissible pressure and vacuum and

to minimize unwelcome gas losses or inadmissible emissions respectively. The housing is mounted perpendicularly on a tank roof. The

product vapours can be discharged through a collective line into the atmosphere connected to the line flange on the pressure

side. This pipeline must be secured individually.
