Pressure and Vacuum Line Valve KITO F71N

The KITO VD/oG-PA, F71N series, is a line end valve designed for venting applications on tank installations. It is primarily used on fixed roof tanks to limit unacceptable overpressure and vacuum conditions. The valve body is installed vertically on the tank roof, allowing product vapors to be routed via a pressure-side flange either to a vapor recovery header or directly to atmosphere.

Process Operation

The valve operates self-actuated, opening in response to differential pressure. On overpressure, it vents the gas phase to the pressure side. On vacuum, it admits air or inert gas into the tank, preventing shell deformation due to negative pressure.

Sizes and Settings

  • DN 50–150: PN 16
  • DN 200–300: PN 10
  • ASME equivalents: 2" to 12"
  • Pressure setting: 2 to 60 mbar
  • Vacuum setting: 2 to 60 mbar
  • Standard construction weights without additional loading weights
  • Supplied without EC certificate and without CE marking

Materials and Sealing

Standard construction uses upper and lower bodies in cast steel 1.0619. Optional stainless steel 1.4408 is available. Cover is carbon steel or stainless 1.4301, seat in 1.4571, gasket in PTFE. Pallet and spindle material depend on pressure range: aluminum for low settings, stainless 1.4571 for higher. Sealing is FEP/HD3822 up to 14 mbar, PTFE above 14 mbar.

Connections and Flow Calculation

Standard flange: EN 1092-1 type B1; ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF optional. Flow curves are based on air (ρ=1.29 kg/m³ at 273 K) and refer to 20% accumulation above setpoint. For other gases or lower permissible overpressure, flow correction is required.

Typical Applications

  • Venting of fixed roof storage tanks
  • Product vapor collection lines
  • Storage of solvents, fuels, or volatile chemicals
  • Overpressure protection during filling
  • Vacuum protection during emptying or tank cooling

FAQ

How does it differ from F70N?
The F70N is for pressure relief only. The F71N provides both pressure and vacuum functions.

Is an actuator required?
No. Operation is mechanical, actuated by tank pressure or vacuum.

Description

KITO® VD/oG-PA-…

-End of line device for use in pipeline-

Application as end-of-line armature for venting apertures on tank installations. Used mainly as venting and breather device for fixed roof tanks. Used to prevent inadmissible pressure and vacuum and to minimize unwelcome gas losses or inadmissible emissions respectively. The housing is mounted perpendicularly on a tank roof. The product vapours can be discharged through a collective line into the atmosphere connected to the line flange on the pressure side.
