Y-Type Pressure Seal Valvosider per DIN

The Valvosider Y-Type Pressure Seal is an angled flow globe valve designed for high-pressure lines in steam, hot water, condensates, and industrial fluids compatible with the body materials. The Y geometry reduces pressure loss compared to conventional straight globe valves while maintaining a seat/disc arrangement suitable for isolation and selected throttling.

Construction Range

  • PN100: DN50–DN600, Fig. P182
  • PN160: DN50–DN600, Fig. P183
  • PN250: DN50–DN600, Fig. P184
  • PN320: DN50–DN600, Fig. P185
  • PN420: DN50–DN600, Fig. P186
  • Connection: primarily butt weld, with flange options.
  • Body materials: 1.0619, 1.7357, 1.7380.

Design and Standards

The series is designed according to EN 12516, face-to-face EN 12982 / EN 558, flanges EN 1092, BW ends per DIN 3239, testing EN 12266, marking EN 19, compliance CE-PED, and certificates EN 10204 3.1 / 3.2. The technical sheet is titled pressure seal, with a description field indicating “bolted bonnet,” which should be confirmed in the technical offer.

Sealing and Trim

The stem is sealed with graphite rings and wiper rings. The gasket is stainless-steel reinforced graphite. Seat and disc surfaces are hard-faced, with options for Stellite, Monel, Hastelloy, or other materials based on fluid, temperature, and corrosion/wear requirements.

Application Selection

For pressure below the disc, manufacturer Δp limits must be checked. The datasheet indicates 85 bar for DN80, 60 bar for DN100, 21 bar for DN150, 14 bar for DN200, and up to 2.2 bar for DN600. Exceeding these limits requires a gear operator or installation with pressure above the disc and internal/external bypass.

Handling Options

Available options include ISO 5210 top flange, gear operator, chain wheel, pneumatic, hydraulic, or electric actuator, limit switches, interlock, regulating disc, double-stage disc, stop-check disc, live-loaded packing, stem extension, drain plug, flanged ends, and ANSI connections.

FAQ

When to choose Y-Type pressure seal?

In high-pressure applications where reduced pressure drop is needed compared to a straight globe valve, while maintaining globe geometry for shut-off or controlled throttling.

Is it suitable for regulation?

Only with a regulating disc or double-stage disc and control of Δp, noise, velocity, and seat wear.
