Cryogenic Globe Valve Valvosider per DIN

The Valvosider DIN cryogenic globe valve features an extended bonnet for flow isolation at low temperatures, ensuring the packing is distanced from the cold zone of the piping. The construction includes a bolted bonnet, outside screw & yoke, rising stem, rising handwheel, and loose disc.

Cryogenic Application

The extended bonnet design is suitable for cold box or fully extractable configurations. It is used in cryogenic liquid or gas lines, technical gas installations, low-temperature storage, and auxiliary piping where access to the stem and packing outside cold insulation is required.

Selection Criteria

Selection is based on DN, PN, operating temperature, connection type, installation position, cold box requirement, fluid compatibility, and allowable differential pressure. For pressure below the disc, the brochure provides Δp limits from 85 bar at DN80 to 2.2 bar at DN600; above these, a gear operator or installation with pressure above the disc and bypass is required.

Options

Available options include gear operator, chain wheel, pneumatic, hydraulic or electric actuator, limit switches, locking/interlock, PTFE soft seats, regulating disc, double-stage disc, stop-check disc, live-loaded packing, drain plug, BW ends, and ANSI connections.

FAQ

Why is an extended bonnet needed?

To position the packing away from the very low-temperature zone, reducing the risk of freezing or compression loss.

Is it a control valve?

The primary use is isolation. For throttling, a regulating or double-stage disc is required, along with control of Δp, velocity, noise, and thermal stress.
