Gate Valve Cast Iron JIS 5K - F7363
JIS 5K F7363 Cast Iron Gate Valve
Flanged cast iron gate valve for isolation in marine and industrial piping systems, manufactured to JIS F 7363-1996. Pressure class is JIS 5K; pressure testing per JIS F 7400-1996. Designed for fully open or fully closed operation; not suitable for throttling or continuous flow regulation.

Typical Applications
- Ballast and bilge systems
- Low-pressure seawater or freshwater lines
- Ship cooling circuits
- Pump manifolds and isolation lines
- Shipbuilding installations with JIS standardization
Selection Criteria
JIS 5K F7363 is specified for isolation of larger diameter lines where low pressure drop is required in the open position. For frequent flow regulation, vibration, or high flow velocity, alternative valve types or seat configurations should be considered.
Maintenance
Inspection should verify seat tightness, gasket condition, stem operation, and flange corrosion. In seawater service, assess galvanic compatibility of materials and select gaskets accordingly.
FAQ
When is this preferred over a bronze valve?
For larger diameters and JIS 5K networks where cast iron construction is acceptable for the operating conditions.
Is it suitable for flow regulation?
No. This is an isolation valve, not a control valve.
What is the main usage limitation?
The JIS 5K pressure class and test pressures must match the system design pressure.
