Tecfluid COVOL Positive Displacement Flowmeter

The Tecfluid COVOL is a positive displacement flowmeter utilizing an oscillating piston and annular measuring chamber. Each cycle displaces a fixed liquid volume; an integrated magnet actuates a reed contact. The K-factor is used by the transmitter for flow rate or totalization output.

Media and Operating Limits

Suitable for clean liquids without suspended solids, conductive or non-conductive, with viscosity up to 120,000 mPa·s. Typical water flow ranges per DN: 25–250 l/h up to 5,000–60,000 l/h. Accuracy is ±0.8% of reading, repeatability ±0.3%.

  • Body: EN 1.4404 / AISI 316L, PVC, PP, or PTFE
  • Piston: PTFE+graphite, aluminium, bronze, or PVDF
  • Seals: NBR, EPDM, PTFE, Viton, silicone
  • Connections: flanges EN 1092-1 DN10–DN100, BSP/NPT, ISO 2852 clamp, DIN 11851, SMS 1145
  • Pressure: PN16 for AISI 316L, PN10 for PTFE/PP/PVC

Electronics and Signals

Standard output: potential-free reed switch. Options: CP420/CH420 with flow/total display and 4–20 mA, HART (CH420), CIP II with battery, MT03F for batch/alarm relay, DFD420 for pulse scaling. ATEX Exd versions available.

Installation and Selection

Pipework must be fully filled. Upstream filtration is mandatory, especially for fluids with potential hard or abrasive contaminants. No straight pipe runs required before or after. Control valves should be installed downstream, pumps upstream, to minimize cavitation risk.

Typical Applications

Chemical dosing, tank filling, burner and fuel consumption monitoring, steam condensate in boiler rooms, batch processes with preset volume.

Is it suitable for gases?
No. The measuring principle is for liquids only.

What affects accuracy?
Viscosity, trapped air, incorrect K-factor, chamber contamination, and operation outside rated flow range.
