Cla-Val 43-01 / 643-01 – Flow Control Valve with Electromagnetic Shutoff

The Cla-Val 43-01 / 643-01 is a hydraulically operated, diaphragm-actuated, pilot-controlled valve designed for maximum flow limitation and remote electrical shutoff. Flow regulation is achieved via differential pressure across an orifice plate installed downstream of the valve. The CS3 solenoid is integrated into the pilot circuit to enable full valve closure on electrical command.

Operating Principle

The X52E/X52A orifice plate generates a differential pressure proportional to flow rate. The CDHS18 differential pilot modulates the main valve position to maintain flow below the setpoint. For stable measurement, the orifice plate should be installed 1–5 pipe diameters downstream of the valve.

43-01 vs 643-01 – Technical Differences

  • 43-01: Full port main valve (100-01)
  • 643-01: Reduced port main valve (100-20), suitable for applications where required flow is lower relative to pipe diameter

Description

Cla-Val 43-01 and 643-01 Combination Rate of Flow Controller and Solenoid Shut-Off Valves limit the maximum flow rate, regardless of changing line pressure. It is a hydraulically operated, pilot controlled, diaphragm valve. On either model, the pilot control is actuated by the differential pressure produced across an orifice plate installed downstream of the valve. Accurate control is assured as very small changes in the controlling differential pressure produce immediate corrective action of the main valve. A solenoid control is provided to intercept the operation of the differential control and close the main valve.

Models 43-01 and 643-01 includes an orifice plate with a holder that should be installed one to five pipe diameters downstream of the main valve. If the check feature option is added and a pressure reversal occurs, the downstream pressure is admitted into the main valve cover chamber and the valve closes to prevent return flow.
