KITO H 26 N Inline Flame Arrestor, Unidirectional Flow

The KITO H 26 N is an inline flame arrestor designed for deflagration protection in gas/vapor pipelines, typically installed upstream of thermal oxidizers or vent combustion units. The device operates in a unidirectional flow configuration and is suitable for vapor/air or air/gas mixtures at operating pressures up to 1.2 bar abs and temperatures up to 60 °C.

Application Scope

Applied in vent lines where ignition sources may be present on the burner or thermal oxidizer side, requiring flame transmission prevention towards the process installation.

Typical applications include:

  • VOC vent lines to thermal oxidizers
  • tank venting with flammable vapors
  • gas recovery or treatment systems
  • chemical, pharmaceutical, and petrochemical facilities

Selection and Installation Limits

Certified for explosion group IIA substances with MESG > 0.9 mm. The permissible pipe length between the flame arrestor and potential ignition source is limited by the L/D ratio, which must be verified during system design. Installation is permitted only on pipelines with nominal diameter equal to or less than the device DN.

Variants and Materials

Available as KITO RV/N-IIA-…/…-1.2 and RV/N-IIA-…/…-1.2-T. The “-T” variant includes two PT100 temperature sensors on one side for emergency functions such as flow shutdown or inerting in case of stabilized burning at the arrestor.

Key construction details:

  • Body: carbon steel or stainless steel 1.4301 / 1.4571
  • Gasket: HD 3822 or PTFE
  • Flame arrestor element: fully replaceable
  • KITO mesh: stainless 1.4310 or 1.4571
  • Flanges: EN 1092-1 type A or ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF

Maintenance and Inspection

Pressure drop monitoring is required, especially in streams with condensate, particulates, or polymerizing vapors. Connections for differential pressure measurement and cleaning are available as options.

Certifications

Type examination certificate per EN ISO 16852. CE marked in accordance with ATEX 2014/34/EU.

Datasheet and documents

Description

KITO® RV/N-IIA-…/…-1.2

KITO® RV/N-IIA-…/…-1.2-T

  • Intermediate armature, mainly installed as in-line deflagration flame arrester in pipes to thermal incineration plants for vapor/air and air/gas mixtures.
  • Unilaterally working in pipes, whereby an operating pressure of 1.2 bar abs. and an operating temperature of 60 °C must not be exceeded.
  • Approved for all substances of the explosion group IIA with a MESG > 0.9 mm.
  • The maximum length of the pipe from the KITO® flame arrester to the ignition source is limited (L/D tube length/tube diameter).
  • It is only allowed to install the device in pipes with nominal widths ≤ than the nominal width of the armature (DN).
  • The temperature sensors (2 pieces, arranged on one side) serves to trigger an emergency function, e.g. shutting off or inerting the gas flow if a stabilized burning occurs at the KITO® flame arrester.
