KITO H 39.2 N Inline Deflagration Flame Arrestor

The KITO H 39.2 N is a bidirectional in-line deflagration flame arrestor, short-time burning proof, designed for the protection of vessels and pipeline sections handling flammable gases or vapors. Reference type: KITO EFA-Def0-IIB3-…/…-1.2-X10, with -T / -TT versions for PT100 temperature sensors.

Operating Limits

  • Explosion group: IIA1 to IIB3
  • MESG: ≥ 0.65 mm
  • Max. operating pressure: 1.2 bar abs.
  • Max. operating temperature: 100 °C
  • Max. ignition source distance: 50 × pipe internal diameter
  • Installation: horizontal or vertical piping
  • Short-time burning: tBT = 1.0 min with one or two PT100 sensors, under atmospheric conditions

Industrial Applications

Applied in vapor recovery, tank venting, chemical process off-gas, and piping systems where ignition can propagate in both directions. Compared to IIA versions, the H 39.2 N is selected for mixtures up to IIB3 (lower MESG, stricter flame quenching requirements).

Difference from H 39 N / H 39.1 N

The H 39.2 N maintains 1.2 bar abs. and IIB3 group, but increases the allowable temperature limit to 100 °C. Suitable for process temperatures above 60 °C, with no change to deflagration scenario or permissible L/D ratio.

Sizes and Connections

Range covers NG 65 to NG 600, with DN 25 to DN 300. Flanges per EN 1092-1 type B1, PN 40, PN 16, or PN 10 depending on diameter. ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF available.

Description

KITO® EFA-Def0-IIB3-…/…-1.2-X10

KITO® EFA-Def0-IIB3-…/…-1.2-X10-T (-TT)

  • For installation into pipes to the protection of vessels and components against deflagration of flammable liquids and gases.
  • Approved for all substances of explosion groups IIA1 to IIB3 with a maximum experimental safe gap (MESG) ≥ 0.65 mm.
  • Bi-directionally working in pipes, whereby an operating pressure of 1.2 bar abs. and an operating temperature of 100 °C must not be exceeded.
  • The distance between a potential ignition source and the flame arrester must not exceed 50 times the inner pipe diameter.
  • The installation of the deflagration flame arrester into horizontal and vertical pipes is permissible.
  • When equipped with one or two temperature sensors, the devices are protected under atmospheric conditions against a short time burning by a burning time tBT = 1.0 min.
  • If only one temperature sensor, then it is to be placed on the device side where a burning could be expected.
