KITO H 45.1 N In-Line Deflagration Flame Arrestor

The KITO H 45.1 N is a bidirectional in-line deflagration flame arrestor with threaded connections, designed for small gas lines in consumption devices. Typical application includes ignition line protection in biogas plant flare systems. Reference type: KITO FS-Def0-IIB3-…“-1.2.

Operating Limits

  • Explosion group: IIA1 to IIB3
  • MESG: ≥ 0.65 mm
  • Operating pressure: up to 1.2 bar abs.
  • Operating temperature: up to 60 °C
  • Bidirectional operation
  • Max. ignition source distance: 50 × internal pipe diameter

Applications

H 45.1 N is used in ignition lines, small biogas piping, auxiliary fuel lines, and locations requiring flame transmission limitation within piping. Compared to H 44.1 N, selection is based on coverage of mixtures up to IIB3, lower MESG, and stricter flame quenching requirements.

Connections and Dimensions

Threaded connections: internal and external. Available sizes:

  • G ½", G ¾", G 1"
  • G 1¼", G 1½", G 2"

Weights range from approx. 0.15 kg to 0.9 kg depending on connection size.

Construction Materials

All stainless steel construction:

  • Body: 1.4571
  • KITO grid: 1.4571
  • Intermediate elements: 1.4571
  • Retaining ring: stainless steel

Selection Criteria

Selection should consider explosion group, L/D ratio, pressure, temperature, flow rate, and allowable pressure drop. Flow curves are based on air (ρ = 1.29 kg/m³ at 273 K, atmospheric pressure); correction for other gases is required based on density.

Certification

Type examination certificate per EN ISO 16852 and CE marking in accordance with ATEX 2014/34/EU.

Description

KITO® FS-Def0-IIB3-…“-1.2

  • Installation into pipelines as inline deflagration flame arrester e. g. for the protection of ignition gas lines of gas consumption devices (flare of biogas plants).
  • Applicable for all materials of the explosion groups IIA1 up to IIB3 with a maximum experimental safe gap (MESG) ≥ 0.65 mm.
  • Operating from both sides, for a maximum operating pressure of 1.2 bar abs. and a maximum operating temperature of 60 °C.
  • The distance between the ignition source and the armature may not be larger than 50 x the inside pipe diameter.
