KITO H 44.1 N In-Line Deflagration Flame Arrester

The KITO H 44.1 N is a bidirectional in-line deflagration flame arrester with threaded connections, designed for small gas lines in consumption devices, such as ignition lines for biogas flares. Reference type: KITO FS-Def0-IIA-…“-1.2.

Operating Limits

  • Explosion group: IIA1 to IIA
  • MESG: > 0.9 mm
  • Max. operating pressure: 1.2 bar abs.
  • Max. operating temperature: 60 °C
  • Operation: bidirectional
  • Max. ignition source distance: 50 × pipe internal diameter

Applications

Used in ignition lines, small biogas piping, auxiliary fuel lines, and locations requiring flame transmission prevention within piping. Selection must consider explosion group, actual pressure, temperature, L/D ratio, and available pressure drop.

Connections and Dimensions

Device features both internal and external threads. Available sizes: G ½", G ¾", G 1", G 1¼", G 1½", G 2". Weight ranges from approx. 0.15 kg to 0.9 kg depending on size.

Construction Materials

Standard construction is stainless steel:

  • Body: stainless steel 1.4571
  • KITO grid: stainless steel 1.4571
  • Intermediate parts: stainless steel 1.4571
  • Retaining ring: stainless steel

Selection Notes

Flow curves are provided for air at ρ = 1.29 kg/m³, 273 K, atmospheric pressure. For other gases, correct flow based on density. No PT100 or actuator is specified; device is a passive protection element.

Certification

Type examination certificate per EN ISO 16852. CE marked according to ATEX 2014/34/EU.

Description

KITO® FS-Def0-IIA-…“-1.2

  • Installation into pipelines as inline deflagration flame arrester e. g. for the protection of ignition gas lines of gas consumption devices (flare of biogas plants).
  • Applicable for all materials of the explosion groups IIA1 up to IIA with a maximum experimental safe gap (MESG) > 0.9 mm.
  • Operating from both sides, for a maximum operating pressure of 1.2 bar abs. and a maximum operating temperature of 60 °C.
  • The distance between the ignition source and the armature may not be larger than 50 x the inside pipe diameter.
