KITO B6N – Vent Cap with Flame Arrester

The KITO® VH-…-IIB3 type B6N is a terminal tank venting device equipped with a flame arrester element for protection against flame transmission in explosive atmospheres. It is installed on tank roofs, manway covers, or vent piping. The device allows free outflow of vapors to atmosphere and inflow of air into the tank, reducing the risk of vacuum lock. Installation in enclosed spaces is not permitted due to ventilation requirements.

The B6N is not a pressure/vacuum relief valve. Where defined set pressure or vacuum protection is required, a separate P/V device must be specified.

Dimensions and Connections

Available in venting cross-sections from DN 50 to DN 800. DN 50–150 sizes are supplied in PN 16, DN 200–800 in PN 10. Standard connection is EN 1092-1 type B1 flange, with optional ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF.

Sizing

DN selection is based on required breathing capacity, permissible pressure drop, gas density, and explosion group. Flow curves refer to air at ρ = 1.29 kg/m³, T = 273 K, atmospheric pressure; for other gases, density correction is required.

Technical documentation includes type certification per EN ISO 16852 and CE marking in accordance with ATEX 2014/34/EU.

Description

KITO® VH-…-IIB3

  • As breather/venting safety device incorporating an explosion proof flame arrester element for installation on top of storage tanks, tank access covers or breather pipes.
  • The breather allows the unimpeded flow of gases out to atmosphere and air into the tank/pipe thereby preventing vacuum locks whilst ensuring provision of a permanent and reliable protection against any flashback into the tank/pipe.
  • This device is not permitted to be installed in enclosed areas.
  • Approved for all materials of the explosion group IIB3 with a maximum experimental safe gap (MESG) ≥ 0.65 mm and an maximum operating temperature of 60 °C .
