KITO B5.10N – Vent Cap with Flame Arrester

The KITO® BEH/M-IIB3-… type B5.10N is a terminal venting device for storage tank breathing openings. It functions as an end-of-line flame arrester for flammable liquids and vapors in explosion group IIB3 with MESG ≥ 0.65 mm, maximum operating temperature 60 °C, and is also suitable for alcohols. Installation in enclosed spaces is not permitted.

Operation and Applications

The device is installed on tank roofs, manway covers, or vent piping. It allows gas egress to atmosphere and air ingress to the tank, while restricting flame transmission into the vessel. It is not a pressure/vacuum relief valve and does not include an actuator.

B5.10N accommodates large vent cross-sections with multiple flame arrester elements:

• DN 80 PN 16 / ASME 3" – A = 2
• DN 100 PN 16 / ASME 4" – A = 2
• DN 150 PN 16 / ASME 6" – A = 3
• DN 200 PN 10 / ASME 8" – A = 3

Standard connection is EN 1092-1 type B1 flange, with optional ASME B16.5 Class 150 RF flange.

• Gaskets: HD 3822 or PTFE
• Flame arrester element: fully replaceable
• Shell / mesh: 1.4408 / 1.4310 or 1.4408 / 1.4571
• Weather hood: steel or stainless 1.4571, with folding mechanism and thermal fuse

Selection Criteria

Selection is based on tank breathing flow, allowable pressure drop, explosion group, vapor temperature, and material compatibility. For vapors with residue formation, a cleaning schedule for the flame arrester element is required.

Standards and Certification

Type examination certificate per EN ISO 16852 and CE marking in accordance with ATEX 2014/34/EU are specified in the datasheet.
